WHAT IS THE MEDELLIN PROTOCOL?

Today modern science recognizes that  there are many diseases that can be prevented and or are reversed by applying lifestyle changes e.g. diet to lower cholesterol, exercise to lower weigh, quitting smoking to heal lung damage etc.

This branch of western medicine called ‘Lifestyle Medicine’  is essentially what we are practicing at Medellin Wellness Center with our brand of Medically Supervised Natural Healing (MSNH).

The Medellin Protocol is a system of lifestyle changes applying 5 Fundamental Factors to a person’s life in which address the basic and underlying causes for the vast majority of human health conditions.

 

The Five Fundamental Factors

Factor 1 – Exercise

It is well known that regular exercise will result in a stronger and healthier body and mind which will enable the body to resist, prevent and reverse illness.  

Factor 2 – Food and Water Intake

‘We are what we eat’ although cliche is based on a very simple and unavoidable fact.  The food that we consume is converted into the energy we need to fuel our bodies and the quality of our ‘fuel’ directly affects our overall health and wellness.  After all there is a reason that certain foods are called ‘junk’.

 

Factor 3 – The Mind – Attitude and Awareness

If ‘we are what we eat’ it is also true that ‘we are what we think’.   The mind body connection involving physical and emotional health can not be overstated.  Through meditation our minds can begin to replace negative thought patterns with with harmonizing and healing waves of thought.

Factor 4 –  Rest

As much as the body needs exercise,  the body also requires restorative sleep and relaxation which is essential to maintaining a healthy body and mind. 

Factor 5 – Living Organically and The Environmentals

Raising awareness of the dangers of toxins that we are exposed to in the environment and the poisons we unknowingly ingest through the utilization of numerous commercial products is essential. Only through education can we identify the dangers us to be able to avoid and eliminate our exposure which can directly affect our health and longevity.

 

Perfumes, cleaning sprays, air pollution, shampoos, artificial foods and the list goes on of ways that poisonous compounds are allowed to enter into our human system.

 

The Positive Feedback Cycle

The understanding and practice of aligning to these 5 Factors together begins us on our positive feedback cycle that is the key to success.  Positive Feedback Cycles occur when several variables in a person’s life each reinforce the other so that result is that all aspects improve at the same time.

This approach may seem simple but the more one learns about the causes of disease, the more clear it becomes about how to reverse them or better yet prevent them.
